Who is a Shadow Teacher?
A shadow teacher is a trained educator who provides one-on-one support to a child with special needs within a mainstream classroom. Their goal is to help the child participate, learn, and thrive alongside peers while gradually encouraging independence
What will be your Key Responsibilities?
Academic Support
Simplify instructions, assist with note-taking, ensure task completion, and provide remedial help when needed.
Emotional Regulation
Help the child cope with transitions, manage anxiety, and remain emotionally grounded in a stimulating environment.
Behavioral Strategies
Use positive reinforcement, visual aids, and customized interventions to manage challenging behavior and build social skills
Acts as a bridge between
The child and the class teacher (to adapt classroom expectations), The child and parents (to share updates and progress), And often with special educators or therapists (to ensure consistency in goals and interventions).
